Space Leaf Blower

This was a hard surface exercise, I liked the result as it's the most detailed hard surface model I've made, so decided to go through with textures (which was way more than I could ever handle). I think the inspiration coming from Zarya's gun is pretty obvious here ;)

There is a metric ton of errors and things I know are broken and I could fix (now that I know how) but I needed to finish it and move on to something more manageable, so I don't fixate on one thing for ages. I am also pretty bad at presenting models in UE.

On the upside I think I am happy about the general shape, colours and materials for the most part (so I guess I know where to focus next!). Since I've finished that I've learned new things and want to implement them in the next project.

Used Blender for modeling and UV, Substance Painter for textures, rendered in UE4.

I think this is my favourite shot and bit of the gun, very meaty and full of detail, welds really add something organic to it and make it pop.

Never had any UI experience, hence the pretty basic display

tried making emission based light, ended up faking it with point lights where most prominent

these are pretty ugly in terms of lighting, but I thought the "camera flash" added a touch of realism, maybe just because it hides all the flaws ;)
